Sporting Assets worked with England Athletics to develop and pilot a new approach for developing athletic clubs in England.

England Athletics wanted to be able to better understand their member clubs’ capability and current position in relation to key aspects such as facilities and governance, in order to create a process to support their improvement. Sporting Assets were commissioned to develop and help pilot the development programme.

Our support included:

  • Developing the process for assessing clubs’ development needs
  • Creating all documentation required for the process and for training Club Support Managers
  • Supporting the delivery of the pilot programme with clubs

Working with England Athletics we developed the key assessment criteria and a framework for creating individual club action plans. The process was piloted with clubs over the following year and led to the creation of a common, evidence-based approach for supporting England Athletics affiliated clubs.
