Cycle Pathway CIC had been delivering cycling programmes for Leeds City Council when they were offered an opportunity to convert a former golf course into a bike park offering mountain bike trials, pump tracks and play tracks.

The business model is based upon free to access trails and tracks; subsidised by the provision of cycling participation programmes, a café, shop and bike maintenance service.
The Sporting Capital loan gave us breathing space to get the business model up and running and start to generate revenues to support a fantastic community facility into the future.

It has been open since 2018. In its first year it saw over 300,000 rides, establishing itself as valued community asset for its inner city catchment, as well as attracting cyclists from further afield. It can be viewed as a prime example of what an inner city bike park can deliver, both in terms of a multi-disciplinary cycling offer and engaging a range of users, in particular young people.
Sporting Assets is now working with Cycle Pathway CIC on the development of another redundant golf course in South Leeds into a dedicated site for their community and education programmes, creating capacity for their ongoing growth and impact.Leeds Urban Bike Park
