Sporting Assets worked with Bonny Downs Community Association (BDCA) to identify the best way to enhance community access for a valued community playing field in East London.

BDCA is a well-established charity and transformed Flanders Playing Field into a valued community asset, bringing it back to life through hiring it out to local sports clubs and using it to deliver a range of community projects.  BDCA commissioned Sporting Assets to review options to increase community benefit and income potential for the site.

Our support included:

• conducting needs and strategic analysis of the local area
• engaging existing clubs and key stakeholders to understand interest and ambitions
• identifying immediate and potential opportunities for usage and income
• identifying potential sources of funding (capital and revenue)

Our options appraisal led to an evidenced based case for BDCA to engage key stakeholders and funding partners on a focused plan to develop their sports provision and community offer. This in turn strengthen their case for secure tenure for the site.
